the initial euphoria
Its amazing how we keep wishing for something and when we finally get it, "Oh my God!!THIS is not what i asked for!" I waited for so long to come to the USA, I was literally chewing my nails on the day of my visa interview, I was all wide-eyed wonder-struck on the big plane to the States and when I get here...I realise all that is the hype created by the "desi" janta here. Now who will like to come to study here(that part is good),cook your own food,no amma & appa to look after your every whim and fancy,do the dishes, clean the house and pretty much everything that somebody else has done for you back home. Now come on,who in their right senses will like it?Its been a month since I arrived here and you may not believe this but I can give my mother a few tips on how to handle a house..One feels that this is not why we came here while doing a dirty job...but once the dirty job gets well done, then hey! why are we complaining??!!I can't claim to be the know-all of surviving in the US but I can say this...coming here to study teaches a person resilience. Those who have been through this route might know what I am speaking about. For those of you who don't...keep watching this site for more posts!!
